Forecourt doesn’t collect, send, sell or share any of your data. Everything it remembers is stored by Chrome on your own device. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking and no ads.
This policy explains how the Forecourt browser extension (“Forecourt”), made by Luke James Taylor (“we”, “us”), handles information. Forecourt is an unofficial, independent extension and is not affiliated with Auto Trader.
Forecourt only runs on autotrader.co.uk. On those pages it reads the page itself, and the data Auto Trader’s own pages load, so it can hide promoted listings and ads and add details such as performance figures, listing dates, price information and top picks. This happens entirely inside your browser. Forecourt does not read any other websites.
Forecourt uses Chrome’s extension storage on your device to remember:
Your settings, such as which items to hide and your fuel prices. Chrome may sync these to your other computers if you have Chrome sync turned on; that is handled by Chrome and your Google account, not by us.
Cars and dealers you choose to hide.
Cars you’ve viewed, so they can be marked or hidden.
Prices of cars you’ve viewed, so Forecourt can tell you if a price changes.
Notes you write on cars, and the car’s title so you can find them again.
Your last search address, so “Back to results” returns you to your search. This can include the postcode you searched from.
Viewed cars and remembered prices are deleted automatically after 180 days. Small temporary details (such as performance figures already read for a car) are kept only for the current browser tab.
Nothing. Forecourt has no servers and makes no requests of its own to us or to anyone else. It does not use analytics, tracking, advertising or third-party code. The only things it loads are from Auto Trader’s own website, such as car photos for the top picks and mini gallery, exactly as Auto Trader’s pages would.
Copy debug info copies a technical outline of the current Auto Trader page to your clipboard, only when you click it. It stays on your device unless you choose to paste it somewhere.
Export saves your Forecourt data to a file on your computer. Import reads a file you choose.
Links to other websites, such as the government MOT history check, open those sites normally. Their own privacy policies apply.
You can unhide cars, delete notes, clear viewed cars and price history, or reset everything from Forecourt’s settings at any time. Removing the extension deletes everything it has stored.
Forecourt is a car-buying tool and is not aimed at children.
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with a new date. Forecourt will never start collecting data without saying so clearly first.
